Search widget returns an empty page

I have the search widget activated on each of my four blogs. But when I click on the search button, I just get a (completely) blank page. Server log says this:

[12-May-2014 19:42:19] b2evolution error: Output format [] not supported. in /.../inc/_core/_misc.funcs.php at line 331 / REQUEST_URI: /index.php?blog=5&s=efficiency&disp=search&submit=Go / HTTP_REFERER: http://www.tonyquain.com/index.php?blog=5

So why is a correct output format not being sent?
Using 5.0.8.

Hi @tonyquain,

Please, enable the debug mode (click in the link for instructions), and share any relevant information. I'm sure that there is the key to find a solution to your problem.

I set up debug and jslog (both have password = 'zubr'), and they appear to dump the debug info on a normal page. But when I do a search, I still get a blank page, with no debug info.

Not sure if any of the debug info from other pages will help, and don't know what to look for there.

I had a similar problem and uninstalled the search plugin and reinstalled it, then it was fine.
