Hi All,

I have just upgraded my system to 1.9.1-beta from the supplied system (through Lycos).

Now I can add users manually, but the user is unable to do anything without getting the following error:

Since you're a newcomer, you'll have to wait for an admin to authorize you to post. You can also e-mail the admin to ask for a promotion. When you're promoted, just reload this page and you'll be able to blog. :)

I cannot see any way to promote the users.

If the user attempts to authorise their account via the supplied email, they receive lots of php error messages.

At present the only user able to do anything is admin.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

The Manual has a lot of info that might help. http://manual.b2evolution.net/New_users is useful although you don't have to create the user who just registered. http://manual.b2evolution.net/User_permissions talks a bit about user permissions, so perhaps you'll find good info there?

Anyway briefly it goes like this: the person who just registered can't do anything until you give them permissions. You can promote them by using your Users tab and selecting their name. Make them be a level 1 for example, and maybe put them in a group that you've defined certain permissions for. You could put people in a group that can see stuff in the back office, but not post. This would be for situations where you insist that users be registered to comment without moderation? If you want the new person to be able to blog and you're not using Group Permissions you would have to go to each blog you want to allow this person to post in and give them the appropriate permissions in that blog. You might want to create a new blog for this person, then give them permissions in that blog?

It's pretty complicated eh? The really short version is like this: no one gets to do anything on your installation until you give them permission to do so. It's the "give them permission" part that gets complicated.

What "errors"? If you don't tell us we cannot fix or look at them.
