My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Hi all,

my first post in this great community

yesterday I have decided to download b2evolution 2.0.1 version in order to create a blog for my new babygirl Lilly.

I wanted to implement hilaryduff-2 skin (it says "for version 1.9" in the DL repository) into this alpha version. Just exchange Hilary´s beautiful face with the face of my even more beautiful daughter ;)
After it didnt work rightway, I also renamed the main file to: "index.main.php" as all the other skins of this release are called.

It installs in the backend without error message, the DB also includes the skin name, but i cannot choose it afterwards for my babyblog...

a grateful newbie-daddy,
Lex

Hi Lex

Unfortunately the skins for 1.9 do not run under the new 2.0 version.
The theme is skinned by Laicombs. You will find his original post here. Laicombs happens to be one of our experts in 2.0 skinning, so if you ask him friendly he might take a shot at converting it.

In the meantime you can use the other skins that come with the 2.0 package and the other skins that are available now. You find new skins here and here.

Good luck

Hi Lex,

Please wait a few more days. I'm going to convert Hillary Duff to b2evo v2.0.

I am curious though which Hillary Duff you are using as there are two versions available. I will upgrade the one you are using first :)

Welcome to b2evo!!

Btw Lex, use b2evo v2.0.2-alpha, out now. :) I still haven't checked if there are differences between 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 when it comes to skinning, but I'll more likely use 2.0.2 for Hillary Duff skin's conversion.

Regards,
JC Cuneta

PS

- oh em gee! 'expert' is too strong a word :p hehe..

Hey guys,
I am REALLY impressed by the speed b2evolution fires out one alpha after the other!! 8|
Ilike HillaryDuff-2 more, because it looks more sophisticated ;-) - so if you would be so kind to convert this one, I would appreciate it more than a lot!

I will upgrade to 2.02 too, if you do so aswell

Though 2 more questions: looks like there´s still some dev especially regarding skins going on.. ->
- are there any incompatibilities to expect when converting from alpha 2.0x to the stable release? I don´t want to cause too much extra work for both of us - I´d rather put content in there *yumyum*
- Is it better to set up everything in the latest stable 1.10.x and then upgrade to a finally released stable 2.x?

Thanx in advance and greetings from Austria,
Lex

Hi,

Im not sure how much will change from 2.0.2-alpha to the final-stable release of v2.x. So it is safe to say to wait for the stable version.

Although I will upgrade HillaryDuff-2 to 2.0.2 so it will be easier to update it to v2.x-Final. So far, 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, changes are minor.

The problem more will be your own customizations to the skin as releases comes out. It's up to you if you will stick with 1.10.x for now or jump early on to v2.x-alpha.

Let me know what you have in mind, so I'll know if I'll rush HillaryDuff-2 :)

JC Cuneta

hi, just an update... im almost done with the upgrade. Just going to touch a few more areas like the feedback section.

The original designer of the skin created with with very specific CSS stuff, and the changes in v2.x messed most of it, I have to think of another way in achieving the same result as the original, without using jQuery :p

I was upgrading to the latest b2evo-Version and all went well. But there was an ancient request for my little baby-daughter-blog about the hilary duff theme available in V2.x ( http://lilly.top-solutions.at)

I never had a chance to say thanks for your efforts - so: THANKS!!! :p

Even though it doesnt seem to work anymore under current version...

Hi Lex!

Just finished a new upgrade for b2evolution 2.4.5.

Please test and see if it is okay ^_^
Get it here: http://webdev.gameshogun.ws/10themes/hillaryduff-skin-for-skins-v2-0-now-avai

If it works okay, then I'll pass it to the skins repository :D

EDIT: Already found a bug... I put all Sidebars in one file :p
Anyway, I'll fix it tomorrow.

Feel free to report bugs, I'll try to get it in on tomorrow's fix.

Update uploaded.

You can download it here: http://webdev.gameshogun.ws/10themes/hillaryduff-skin-for-skins-v2-0-now-avai

Please test it first before you put it on your live website.
I also changed the Sidebar names to the default/accepted format of b2evolution, so you will have to adjust your widgets.

It is also for b2e v2.4.5 only (and possibly future versions), hope that is okay ^_^

Thanks thanks!

Hi again,

I´m pretty happy with the skin so far. But I have 1 annoying thing, that I can´t get rid of myself:
at the bottom left sidebar of http://lilly.top-solutions.at i have an item called "sitemap" with its current link:

http://top-solutions.at/blog/skins/hilaryduff/#sitemap

this is not working, of cource
with

http://top-solutions.at/blog/index.php?blog=1&tempskin=_sitemap

I just get crappy XML-Output

What ist the correct link/function/widget?/way... to display a correct sitemap?

remark: i cannot event preview the sitemap, because the skin "_Sitemap" seems not to work properly either...(Evo 2.4.5)

thanks for your help!

To all who are using this theme - Hilary Duff.

Do you still need the theme once b2evolution v3.x is out? That way I can put it on my To-Do list.

Already have 3 on my plate right now for conversion to b2evolution v3.x, new themes actually. I'm already considering 2 more, all 5 themes were originally made for WP. (sidenote: I don't like WP's skinning :p haha)

Already 33% with the 1st theme conversion.

PS
Yes, still early to convert themes to v3.x, but it is easier to update to the final version than to start from scratch (and have you guys waiting, I don't want to hold you guys back from moving to v3.x final in the future).

PSS
Also, Hilary Duff is a bit challenging, but I like to stick to the original code as much as possible :p

Thanks. ^_^
