My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

Hi all,

I would like to know how to stop visitors from adding website URLs to comments as they have been doing so and referencing porn sites.

Any suggestions?
I'm running v.2.4.0 RC2

Hi TITSSN,

You'll be able to stop (nearly all) spam if you install one of the Captcha plugins. See the repositories for that (click on "Extend" in the main header above).

Good luck

Afwas,

As always, thank you.

I noticed the dates on the plugins are very old and I was wondering if they would work on the new versions of the tool.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi Bailey,

Thank you for the link and additional info.

I was very excited about using the Sticky Announcements Plugin but now I see that it doesn't work on v.2.x :-(.

I'll see what else I can find that will work for my site.

If you read the thread for the Sticky Annoncements plugin you will see we found a simple hack to make it work in 2.4.1. It does reveal a bug however :\ But it works :)

Good luck

For the life of me, I can't see the "simple hack." I'm not sure if I'm changing the sticky announcements plugin file or something else, and I'm not sure what change I'm making. I see three or four suggestions, but I'm not sure which one to follow.

Make a post type named 'Sticky' with ID #5001
Add to index,php (see the existing but cmmented out section near the end)

$orderby = 'ptyp_ID datemodified';

In fact, this is all there's to it.

Good luck

Interesting.

The skin I use does not have "index.php," but does have "index.main.php," and does not have the commented out lines. But I will keep looking, surely I must have this somewhere.

Thank you for the info!

I do mean index.php, the file in the root of your blog *or* the stub file you are actually using. Look for this piece of code at the very end of the file. Note that this is an already altered version:

# Additionnaly, you can set other values (see URL params in the manual)...
# $order = 'ASC'; // This for example would display the blog in chronological order...
$orderby = 'ptyp_ID datecreated';
// That's it, now let b2evolution do the rest! :)
require $inc_path.'_blog_main.inc.php';

?>

Good luck

Well, it did change something! A post labeled as a "link" from a year ago is now the initial post on the home page.

I also can't get my plugins page to load, but that may be unrelated.
