I have no idea where "../images/basic/" part is coming from. Usually this means that some script overrides b2evo parameters.

AHA! That is quite the worthy clue there sam2kb. There is no base href thingie in the head section, so it is using the skin's folder as the base path. Or at least that is what it looks like. For sure there is no base href thingie in the linked page's head section.

For all your installations of b2evolution, you really should be using the head section that it creates. Add bits to it as you see fit, but don't chuck and replace it.

Wow...no clue how that happened but I suspect you're right about the hacking. In any event...removed the offending code and all seems to be back to normal. Thanks so much for your help. Sue
