Is this possible? And how?

Go to the backoffice.
Click the "Blogs" tab.
Click on the name of a blog.
Click the "Advanced" tab.
Check the boxes to ping each server that you'd like to ping.

and if you want to ping another one that is not standard ?

Clicking on the name just takes me to the blog...

Daethian,

What version are you using? If it's less than 0.9, then forget what I said.

By "Name" I mean the blog short title on the far left of that table, not the blog file/urlname.

Topanga,
Each ping server generally has their own format, so we'd have to add it to the code. Requests are always welcome, tho, so if you find a server you'd like to ping with b2evolution, let us know :)

I'm using 8.0.6 I have the 9 version but don't want to update it yet because you said that moonrise skin isn't compatible. :-/

 oh, right...
If only there were more hours in a day, it would be done by now... Sorry for the delay.

If you don't have enough time to upgrade your skins Isaac, I'll upgrade them for you, since we need all the skins we can get....

Graham,

YAY!! :))
You're my hero!

I'll email you when I get home from work tonite. It's really been nagging in the back of my brain, but in my "free" time, it's always either "upgrade skins," or "work and get extra money." Thank you very very much in advance if you do this :)

and that's why you can ping every service with MT?

They use the weblogs.com API, so in theory, you could just copy a chunk of code (wherever it lives), and replace the url with your own one. But yes, this would be a good idea to include in the release.

Oh I totally understand being so busy...

after I get updated etc I'll review this thread and see if I can get it figured out. I'm new to 'pinging' so I doubt I'll get it right the first go round.

There is a site I'd like to ping but I don't think they'd want random pings from non users.

I found this on another blog site:

Here's a good list of sites who accept pings...

http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2
http://ping.blo.gs/
http://www.movabletype.org/update/
http://ping.rootblog.com/rpc.php
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger/
http://www.mod-pubsub.org/kn_apps/blogchatter/ping.php
http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2
http://topicexchange.com/RPC2
http://www.queerfilter.com/ping/

technorati, blog.gs, and weblogs.com are already available.

I'll add the others to the todo list. Thanks :)

Can it be set up to ping Google blog site.

Here is the address for the information I think is required.

http://www.google.co.uk/help/blogsearch/pinging_API.html

Ive been making my own blog and reading this forum makes me realise how much I don't know.

The only programming I did was on my zx81 in basic. and my blog still looks half decent, b2evolution you rock.

It will be possible in 1.9 through the use of the "Generic Ping Plugin". I've just tested it.

For the version after 1.9 I've started with an option to do extended pings (weblogUpdates.extendedPing) (though Google also accepts weblogUpdates.ping - despite of what the URL you gave above says).
