You have a 1.10 blog. That version has no widgets.
Simply put the code in /skins/miamy_blue/ where you find a file like index.php and in that file you find a comment that says: "here starts the sidebar"

I have not been able to get my Adsense to work in the side bar using this method. I keep getting the following error:
