I am using 3.3.3 and do not think of upgrading at a soon future (until v4 stable comes out)

And bundled twitter plugin is not working anymore in 3.3 as you know, would it work if i copied the twitter plugin from 4.x ?

Secondly how can i add $main_cat$ like $excerpt$ and $url$
