I assume anyway it has to be the skin or something associated with it:
http://www.effyi.com/index.php

It starts out showing the right text but then turns to little red x's?

check your source?

 <h3><span><img src="_heading-side-title.php?text=Archives%20&amp;selector=h3%20span" alt="Archives" class="replacement" border="0"></span></h3>

none of that works, far as I can tell.. there is no http://www.effyi.com/_heading-side-title.php so I cant even tell you what's extraneous beyond that. I can guess that the span thats included at the end of all those dynamic images prolly isnt something thats intended though.

I recommend using the full path to that php script, btw, saves issues that could arise from users being on redirected pages or anything else odd.

Edit: in fact I think I can see that youre actually looking for :

http://www.effyi.com/skins/custom/_heading-side-title.php?text=Archives%20&selector=h3%20span

which brings up something, but its invisible :)

A perfect illustration of why using the full path helps :)

Thanks. I will look into that. The skin isn't my creation though. it is the one called "London" I use the same skin in the other 'categories' which are full blogs without this problem.

I think I will just scrap it all and start over clean. That seems to be the only way to fix this. It was working fine before until I accidentally deleted the 'custom' skin which was actually 'London' then tried to put it back.

Update: ok not sure what caused it to go funky like that... After waking up abruptly to gun shots/fireworks... I tried something which seemed to fix it. Basically I just copied from the server the working London skin and uploaded it back to the custom folder.

Thanks for the tips. I think I will go make coffee now...

Yep, I know that this one works, I made it myself ;) If you miss any of the files related to the dynamic text replacement, it will go funky. And you'll only get an error if you don't upload the font file. I never bothered to add in any further error checking because most people don't edit it.

Hi Graham,

A wonderful skin it is too. I am not sure why it happened but here was the chain of events:

1. Accidentally removed a copy of London which was in the custom skins folder for use on the main page of the site.

2. Re-uploaded a copy from my hard drive only to find everything okay except for the sidebar which was showing lots of little red X's

3. Tried to fix it and after a couple hours came here to post for help.

4. went to sleep and was woken by what sounded like gunshots

5. Downloaded the London Skin from my server then uploaded that to the custom folder. That fixed everything so I could get back to work again. :D

I guess I must have been missing something from the copy on my computer that wasn't missing from the copy on the server...?

Anyway, thanks for making such a great skin. I really like it a lot.

Nope in Texas here. I also have to say hearing anything that sounds like gunshots isn't common this time of year... in the fall when hunting season has started sometimes but not this time of year.
