Can't get Sticky to work

Version 4.1.4

Making a 'post' sticky doesn't move it to the top.
Checked loads of posts on the forum and tried a dozen different skins, but still no good.

I feel I must be missing something obvious?

Sticky works with the forums skin only (and in v5 only)

On other skins it's for "featured" posts, and only the most recent "featured" post will be "featured".

You also need a skin that supports that feature (look at the default b2evolution skins)

Don't get it what does the sticky option do in 4.1.4?

maybe I can play with the code if post= sticky {show this post first} ???
