Never seen this before. Who is your web host? They may have a background task to change your permissions back to something more safe.
In that case you need to fix the owner/group of the media folders.

Can you post a screenshot of the error messages (showing context of exactly where they appear) to see if we can reverse engineer what triggers them?
You probably need to change the perms of ALL subfolders of the
media
folder, recursively.
