I installed the newest b2evo by deleting absolutely everything except the media folder, so a clean slate install, then I got this error every time I click recycle on a comment.

Not to mention one of my blogs refuses to accept comments anyway , good thing it's not the main one.

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/user/public_html/inc/comments/model/_comment.funcs.php on line 475

At first I also got some weird errors at the top of my blog's page but those disappeared after a while and seems no one else sees them anymore.

oh ....so it wasn't my fault ?

Usually the recycle bin icon and open link appeared right on the admin interface border, now it keeps goin under it because of those notices, two notices for each comment I recycle.

When will a new release be issued ?

And could u go to my blog main page and tell me if any errors appear at the top of the blog anymore? some errors appeared right before the green line with links.

Everything seems to be ok on your blog, I didn't see any error messages in the entire main page.

Well, to be more precise about the issue, it only appears after publishing a few comments and then try to recycle another one. It could be useful if you share a screenshot and detail which web browser was you using.

I have no information about when a new release will be issued, but meanwhile, maybe you should turn off the PHP warning notifications at your production server, this will not solve the issue, but at least the unwanted messages will be hidden :D

Actually I have very little comments on my blog. Most days I just get spam so I just recycle them cause lately they don't even submit website urls (smartasses lol)

I also submitted test comments myself and still happens. So I didn't even get to publish anything and the issue was already manifesting. It does the same on all 3 browsers chrome, firefox, IE

I made now a few test comments and attached a screenshot of how it shows up. Two comments to be exact and recycled one. As you see the notice appears 2 times and will keep appearing on and on each time I recycle

(i scratched only my username)

All right, we are talking about the same issue. As I said, it's solved and will be delivered soon.

P.S.: I deleted your screenshot after viewing it, there is no need to keep it public.

The errors at the top of my main page are happening again , this is what i see

I couldn't find this issue at the mystique skin:

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home//public_html/skins/mystique/_skin.class.php on line 645

Are you sure that you are usign the last version of the skin?

Note: At your production site you should disable all the php error/warning/notice output and manage this using the error logs.

well first I have no idea if it's the last version, all the skins from b2evolution website don't show up anymore for weeks. Whenever I click on a skin it says
Not Found

The requested URL /2/index.php was not found on this server.

Secondly it seems it's this new b2evo . I had no such issues before, I been using this skin in that exact form for years. I customized it.

You don't see it because in the meantime i found out what was happening, at the line it said there, the 645, there was a thing I had to erase and then the errors disappeared . See below

original

$CommentList = & new CommentList( NULL, implode(',', $type_list_fixed), array('published'), $Item->ID, '', 'ASC' );

modified

$CommentList = new CommentList( NULL, implode(',', $type_list_fixed), array('published'), $Item->ID, '', 'ASC' );

I am also experiencing two more issues ever since I upgraded. Another skin I use for the following blog

http://www.adrian-alexander.com/blog7.php

doesn't allow comments anymore, saying

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home//public_html/skins/Bluer/_item_feedback.inc.php on line 156
No feedback yet
Fatal error: Class 'CommentList' not found in /home//public_html/skins/Bluer/_item_feedback.inc.php on line 156

I am also experiencing trouble with the smilies. First they didn't show up for normal users, After I made them show up , by ticking a check box in the plugin edit page, now normal users can't insert by clicking, the smilies toolbar shows up now, but when a normal user clicks on a smiley nothing happens, they can only see the code at mouse-over and they would have to write it to get the emoticon to show in their comments.

All right, the skinsite is currently being updated and those problems will be fixed soon. But, I told you about the skin version because I already knew that particular issue (about the deprecated return value) was solved on mystique some time ago. Maybe as Mystique is a third-party skin, you should be participating on this post in order to get news and support directly from the developer.

About the other issues that you report:

I am also experiencing two more issues ever since I upgraded. Another skin I use for the following blog

doesn't allow comments anymore, saying

Same situation about Mystique, in this case Bluer is not part of the b2evo standard release then, as a normally happens on any software development process, when some changes are introduced to the system's core code, developers should be aware and adapt their plugins to those changes, if they do not follow this process, then the outdated plugin should work with flaws or even do not work at all. Please, change the Bluer skin to a standard one and test the comments again. If the error is still there, come back to us with the report.

About the smilies issue, please take advantage of the skin change that you should perform and test the smilies toolbar again. If it doesn't work, as suggested above, please come back to us with the report.

Thanks.

Ok so I remember now why I didn't update to the new mystique. Cause I was stupid. I tried 2 times like maybe some year ago to upload it as mystique2 and it gave some error. Some thing had to change in the skin class php.

So well the preview doesn't work but the download does. So I upgraded to the new Mystique , very happy with it, seems no errors so probably that line is well edited in the new skin.

About the bluer skin I found it , it's Bluer, same name , I guess maybe not included in the install pack... its on b2evo website on page 6. I'll check that line in the error, I have no clue on php css, solving the mystique old skin was pure luck lol. If still no, ill just replace Bluer with another skin.

Oh the smilies for visitors don't work anywhere, not only on Mistique, when I log out and try to post comments on ANY blog , clicking on them doesn't do anything at all...If I am logged in it works. But visitors they would have to actually write the codes, since the codes do appear at mouse over.

As I said before I didn't even realize that usually the smilies toolbar didn't even show up for visitors, I checked this option to make them show up Use smilies toolbar:
This is the default setting. Users can override it in their profile.

But as for clicking...I see no setting, I even tried the users tab but there I only have settings for registered users...So I'm bit lost on this one. Also to be perfectly honest I have no idea if they worked before the upgrade, this situation might be like this for a while now.

sooo...any clue on the smilies issue yet?

14 Nov 06, 2013 10:13

@adrian_alexander it looks like a bug when not logged in users try to add a smiley. Let me make deeper tests and if it is an issue, I will report to developers.

If the fix is not too complex, I will go back here with it. If is it, you should wait a next release that include it.

Thanks !
