My b2evolution Version: 1.9.x

I'm attempting a new installation. When I fill in the database account info and so on and then press the Update Config File button I get a blank screen (Firefox browser) or The page cannot be displayed (Internet Explorer). Would someone please help me?

I'm running on Fedora Core 6 system with PHP 5.1.6, MySQL 5.0.27 and b2evolution 1.9.2

Any attempt to go to Blogs or Admin yields the nasty-gram You cannot use the application before you finish configuration and installation.
