If you have installed b2evolution 2.0 alpha, you can even add this as a widget using the "Free HTML" widget to insert the google code.
Go to admin panel -> Blog settings -> widgets
Click on "Add widget" in whichever place you want to insert the code, and choose "Free HTML". Then insert the adsense code there and you're ready to go.

Or simply use the ADSENSE plugin
http://plugins.b2evolution.net/index.php/2007/07/08/adsense_for_b2evolution
which works in 2.0.1 and 1.10 that I know of.

You have to directly edit the theme file.
Edit the \skins\yourskin\index.main.php and put the code wherever you wish.

Well unless you know HTML and CSS coding well, you should probably install a skin that has both left and right sidebars and then customize it.
There are a few here at:

1. What style of Adsense have you selected... and what size?
2. Where exactly do you want to locate it
3. Provide a link to your site
After you work out 1, 2 and 3 we can give you the html/css to display it
../blogs/skins/YOURSKIN/_main.php.
That's the answer to your question. If you have subsequent questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Good luck
