My b2evolution Version: 2.x

Just jumped ship form the WP world.
LOVE b2 in so many ways BUT...
In trying to install new skins I hit a roadblock;
No problem with FTP upload to skins directory.
MySQL DB error when I try to install to blog:

I removed "sample" from .htaccess,
Do I need to change permissions somewhere/how?
