They are both plugins/widgets. You can remove them by signing into your Admin area. Once there click Blog Settings, Widgets tab - scroll down and you will see Sidebar headings, under them you should see both that you want to remove. All you have to do is click the delete button over to the right of the screen and they will be removed from your sidebar.
If you wish to add them in later all you have to do is click the "Add Widget" link on the right in the section where you want to put it.
