Problem installing on virtual server - Xampp

My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I'm using Xampp to experiment with both b2evolution and wordpress - however, I'm not having much luck getting b2 to work. It installs fine, but one is not able to login to the blog or backoffice. I've tried using the default password, I've even changed the password manually within the database. Is there anything else I should be doing.

Localserver installation is 127.0.0.1

P.S. I just replicated the same problem with wamp. So both xamp and wamp have this problem

Strangely, I think I got it solved, somehow, not sure how. One technical question, the password on the database seems to differ from the one i use on a day to day basis - is there some sort of key for this?

Don't know about xampp, but in wamp MySQL admin password is not set, and you should run this command to create it (change the path).

C:\\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.051b\bin\mysqladmin.exe -u root password NEWPASSWORD
