...where you can see that an extra surrounding p tag has been added.
This of course throws off the page validation. I guess that rss2\indexmain.php
needs a tweak, but I'm uncertain where...

Hi Yabba,

I don't mean to contradict you, but if you go to [url=http://www.navig8or.org.uk/newsblog.php]this Navigator page[/url]
and right-click to view source, you will see what the problem is.

Also, I've found a problem with the Feedburner URL box; it's input length
is so limited that I can't enter the full URL. Attempting to add...
http://www.navig8or.org.uk/nav8news/index.php?temp|skin=_rss2&redir=no
gets cut off where I've added the |

Your rss feed isn't showing the extra <p> .. maybe you need to be looking at your normal skin files ( index.main.php, posts.main.php )

You can use htacces to shorten the url for feedburner

Hey, you don't need .htaccess tricks for feedburner in 2.4.6 ;)
