I would like to move my blog to a new server, can I run a backup to download all previous blogs/settings/skins etc and if so how's it done?

Via FTP, download ALL your B2 Folders and Files to your desktop/drive, whatever.
Also, via your Hosts Control Panel, backup/save your current database.
Move to new server, upload all your b2 folders/files
Create a new empty database and import your saved database into it.
