Now that's strange. I deleted index.html but my server seems to generate a default one because it's appeared again even though the file itself doesn't exist. And when I call index.php it all looks ok. I'm beginning to think it must be a server issue because the two blogs are on different servers.
I'd be a smidge worried if my index.html re-appeared after I told it to sod off

It is a bit spooky. I'm querying it with my host now.
Try renaming sample.htaccess ;)
