Interesting that it worked for over half a year and suddenly broke. It's a shared host -- could another user's b2evo interfere?

I see there's a @todo associated with that line -- would be nice if the installation script would set this appropriately... if only to spare boring, elementary questions on the forums :)

it's not about your hosting environment..You must have logged in two b2evolution sites with the same "instance name"..Many people -naturally- forget to change it (even i forget sometimes) , or even dont know about it.
I've always complained about it.At the very least, the software should assign a random instance name i think.

It's one of those chronic little annoyances of b2evo that carries on with every new version, like the inability to define your own admin password.

They both need to be on the same root domain for that to happen ;)

foo.domain.tld && domain.tld && domain.tld/folder will share cookies if instance names aren't unique

Are you sure? The problem has started happening again. (It was temporarily resolved last night.)

I purged all cookies in Firefox just now, still happening. The only b2evo site I've ever tried to authenticate into is my own*, and I'm running only one instance on my domain.

* I'm fairly sure of this -- I don't read many blogs routinely and I haven't made it a habit to create user accounts on them. It's highly unlikely that I would have logged into one since I almost never log into any.

Also, I recently installed chrome and have visited very few sites, and logged into fewer. I got the same problem on my blog. I also tried clearing all cookies in chrome -- same issue. Unless I seriously misunderstand, deleting all the cookies should remove any conflicts.

This is on my Ubuntu machine. On Mac, no issue. Since the Mac client doesn't have a problem, that would at least seem to rule out the host.

So it leaves the question -- why do 2 different browsers in Ubuntu choke on this?

Should I repost the debug stuff? (Or part of it? Which part? As noted before, there is no "request:" section as the previous thread indicated.)

I guess this question is too boring...? I know lots of people have had this issue in the past, but the advice given in prior threads has not helped at all.

1. Check $baseurl.

Doesn't appear to be any problem here.

2. Extend the session timeout using hacks.php (http://forums.b2evolution.net/viewtopic.php?p=101473#101473). No effect.

3. Make sure third-party cookies are allowed. Both browsers I've tried in Linux are not blocking third-party cookies.

Are there any other suggestions I've missed? I'm afraid my time to deal with this is limited, and looking through forum threads has turned into a bit of a wild goose chase.

Something that I did not see in any other thread is that it breaks (for me) when accessing the web in Ubuntu, but it's not a problem on my Mac (so far). But, (most) other sites are not affected and can set login cookies properly.

At least I have a workaround, but it's weird. Something is buggy somewhere. I don't know if it's b2evo or Ubuntu, and I will need some help from people who know those systems better than I do. (I already opened a thread on ubuntuforums.org.)

It gets weirder... Firefox has magically restored access, but Chrome still reports the same cookie-related error.

I'm still curious about it. I don't have much confidence -- Firefox could easily barf on it again tomorrow, or in 30 minutes. It just doesn't make sense to me. But as long as it's working in firefox, I won't fuss. (If it breaks again, I'll be back...)

That rules out quite a bit, but I'm afraid I don't know enough about the framework for this to narrow the problem down concretely. Sure, "no session cookie received," but what is supposed to set the cookie and what prevented that from happening?

Do you have a page @ domain.tld/ that uses evo core? That'd probably kill the cookies as they're subdir specific.

Nope. words/ is the only evo site on my domain.

Hmmm, only time I've seen a similar problem to this is when a site used $_SESSION ( which evo doesn't ) and a page was called that didn't do "session_start()" (usually an image generator) ... session was dropped, shit failed.
