what's is the difference between 'recently (cached)' & 'recently (no cache)'?

also, what's the difference between a skin and a template?

The cached link would go to the html static version of your front page (if you have one). You probably don't need a static verion, so you could just delete that link from your skin.

A skin is the part of b2evolution that determines what your blog will look like. Each blog on your site can choose from any skin you have installed. They can all use the same skin, or each can choose a different skin. Then, if you have "Allow skin switching" checked in the backoffice, the readers can choose to view your blog with any of the skins that you have installed. Their choice is saved in a cookie in their browser, so when they come back to your site, all blogs are shown with their favorite skin. A template is like a combination of a skin and a stub file. Templates only work for one blog. Unless you're doing some advanced stuff that only works in a template, stick with skins. You can download more of them at http://skins.b2evolution.net .
