[5.2.1] default post status doesn't apply to normal users

I have a forum, admins can post directly to published status, but normal users go by default into community status, and need to be approved. I would like them to be able to post to published status automatically, but I can't figure out how.

I have set the Default Status to "Public (everyone)" under the features / post moderation, and in group perms, I made sure that normal users have permission to post with public status. I even removed their permission to post to community status -- and yet this is still the default status... What am I missing here?

Hi @arinaya,

There are only two necessary steps to let normal users post directly in "Public" status, and you have already described them as done, so it's actually weird.

Do you have a "Visibility / Sharing" field in your form, as displayed in the image above?

Ahh,... thanks for your comment, @mgsolipa, you got me looking more carefully at these group settings. I had set different permissions on posts and comments -- or probably never changed the default permissions for comments -- and public comments were not allowed. I do have the visibility / sharing section, and it is showing the right options. Thanks again, that fixed it.
