For a blog project with multi-authors i needed something like a 'author-cloud', which i thought could be something like a second tag-family additional to the regular tag system. Unfortunately categories and tags will be used already for categories/keywords and i don't know how to document/link the authors ...
Would it be possible with reasonable effort to add a second tag-family or how would i better solve this problem? i guess it is more than adding some code and a field to the database ...

I'm afraid that it's more difficult than just adding some code and an extra field. However, it can be done with a plugin that implements the hook
AdminDisplayItemFormFieldset.A different option could be using custom fields, have you tried this way? ( http://b2evolution.net/man/item-custom-fields ). In any case, it will also require some coding to display / filter in the frontend.
