Post excerpts are editable at the bottom of the post edit screen. they never get rendered in any way.

This is strange because on a intranet blog - also 5.2.2 - at least with the SEARCH widget I get the same result as with normal post view or Recently post view!

Difference is that I have complete server controle, use APC cache and have php v. 5.4.20

This tip was very much what I needed!

I changed in the SEO settings Post contents: to Standard post contents (stopping at "[teaserbreak]") for Category pages, Tag pages, Other filtered pages and Other pages.

This did what I was looking for.
