My b2evolution Version: 4.1.x

I'm totally new to blogs and I'm trying to install this onto a web site.

I can't see any way of selecting a category for new posts - posts always get put into the default category and then I can't see how to move the post to where I want it.

Sorry if this has been asked before but hours of searching the forum has not answered the question for me.

You can create new categories yourself. Go through Dashboard and you'll find "edit categories" link in the right side. And inside it, in the right side you have new category option to create as many categories as you like. After that, if you creat a new post, the categories you made before will be ready to use.

Thank you. I have no problem creating categories. My problem is that I can't see how to post into a specific category. Whenever I create a new post there is no option to choose a category. Everything gets put into the default!

Realy strange! If you don't mind, send a picture of the "new post" screen.

Look into the image below and I hope you'll find the reason of your problem

As you can see, in "blog settings"- "Features", there are some options related to categories (Post category options).
Check them. I'm afraid you have marked the last one (Don't allow category selections). If so, change it.

By the way, to insert images into the forum, my way is, first, put the image into one of my blogs, get the url of the image, and in the forum use the "Img" tag before, paste the url, and put the "Img" tag after.

Brilliant - the manual is not very good unfortunately, especially considering the software itself which is first class.

Many thanks, also thanks for explaining your technique for uploading images.
