To make it even more easy you can middle-click the link. Saves you one click per deletion.

I made a hack a while ago that added check boxes to the posts in post list view...

Yes, checkboxes are the way to go, of course. Middle-clicking is just "the least sucking workaround".
That's about the only way to do it. You could use something like phpmyadmin, but then you have to go after the posts table and the postcats table, so it doesn't really save you anything.
Do you use Firefox? If so you can right click the 'delete' link and open it in a new tab. That'll save you from having to confirm the delete and let you decide about all the posts on the page you're looking at.
