.: Original message :.

I rewrote part of the code and added functionality. See Viewing permissions? and the announcement in my blog.
The plugin can now display Blogs that are not 'public'. So in the list in the Widget settings (Blog settings -> Widgets -> Sorted public bloglist) you find a default list with public Blogs. A blog is public if it's to be displayed in the Public Bloglist (Blog settings -> Features -> Include in public bloglist'). Well, the plugin allows you to re arrange Public blogs and won't complain if you add another. This is helpful if you don't want every blog to have the same Bloglist.

Furthermore there was a question in the forums. This is the situation. A blog has a few 'hidden' blogs that only have Protected posts, meant for Members only. I made a new setting for the Sorted Bloglist plugin that allows such a Blog to be in the Blogroll only if you are a member of that blog. So you see a larger Blogroll if you are member of (a) blog(s) than 'normal visitors' will see. That makes it easy for your members to navigate through the blogs. You could make groups or sections and everybody can navigate through the parts they are interested in.

This is the original announcement of the plugin:

I wrote a small widget that allows you to display the public bloglist the way you want. In fact the one thing you can change is the order of the list.
Use this widget as a replacement for the official Public Blog list widget. You can customize the bloglist in the Widget settings.

http://www.blog.hemminga.net/media/blogs/plugins//SortedBloglistWidget.png

As you can see, in the widget settings appears a list with available blogs. You can arrange them the order you like. Remember two things: use it as a comma seperated list and do not omit or add items to this list.
• Download the plugin

• Unzip and upload to the /blogs/plugins/ folder of your server

• Install the plugin in Dashboard -> Blog settings -> Plugins

• Install the widget in Blog settings -> Widgets. Remove the 'Public Blog list widget' and use the 'Sorted Bloglist widget' instead.

• In the settings for the widget (see picture) change the order of the available blogs

• [/list:u]

The new version adds an optional title for if you want to use the widget in the sidebar. The basic 'Public Bloglist Widget' comes with a title in one flavour only: Blogs, which is not a bad choice, but with this widget you are in full control of this title!

Afwas,

Perfect, it works woooweee. I wish it was core plugin that once installed on the main replicates by default to all other blogs. I edited them manually and they are all the same now.

Thanks
I moved the rest op your post to the support forums: No new posts [2.40 Two questions (bloglist bar and aggregation)

Have fun

3 Mar 10, 2008 17:18

I tried this, but it doesn't change anything. It doesn't matter what order I put the numbers in, the list of links still shows up exactly the same, as if there was no plugin at all.

4 Mar 24, 2008 16:18

Thanks for this pluggin !

6 Mar 29, 2008 13:29

• Download the plugin

• Unzip and upload to the /blogs/plugins/ folder of your server

• Install the plugin in Dashboard -> Blog settings -> Plugins

• Install the widget in Blog settings -> Widgets. Remove the 'Public Blog list widget' and use the 'Sorted Bloglist widget' instead.

• In the settings for the widget (see picture) change the order of the available blogs

• [/list:u]
Could someone please outline the above so that even I can understand it? I have tried to follow the instructions, but can not complete the task. Problems starts at line 3, though I expect "Blog settings" should be "App settings" instead. Please help, thank you. Michael

7 Mar 29, 2008 15:56

Actually, it is "Blog settings". App settings stopped existing when the 2.* generation happened, and this plugin is for the 2.* generation.

8 Mar 29, 2008 17:41

It's still "Global settings > plugin install : install new plugin > click plugin name" to install the plugin that then becomes a widget on "blog settings > widget install : pick container > click 'add new widget' " though ;)

I got it :)

My failure - i didn't realize I had to upgrade. I've done so, and it works perfectly.

Thank you very much.

Thank you!! B)

Finally!! I found it.

11 Jun 19, 2008 08:54

Hey Afwas,

I got it, installed it, but it only made bullets of my blog list.

. blog name
.blog name
.blog name
etc..

Could it be I am using the skin. b2evo_ru and i need to add something somewhere else, in this skin, it has the tabs in the top right for the blogs, on my page one (tab one) blog, the tab was missing and the blogs became bullet list, but the other tabs / blogs were still seen as tabs.

Thanks,

Thanks cslepage,

I located the bug, now need fixing. Fortunately it only happens for you if you are logged in. So your visitors (not logged in) see the order as is intended. If you logout you will see what I mean.
I will release a bugfix shortly.

Greetings
