SocialSpark said the code needs to be placed in the 'header' or 'footer' . But these are all php scripts...so how do you put in an html code directly in the page?

Also it can be put on the main page between the (body) (/body) code. But not sure which one is the main page?

as i dont know what code looks like, presuming it is probably html -javascript-; you can use _html.header.in.php to insert any code into header...

so just place it in _html.header.inc.php or anywhere in your skins header,footer.php's with calling echo's

There is no reason why putting the code you provided, which is simply an image tag, into a free html widget in any container would not have worked.
