My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x
I'm having a hard time finding this information in the wiki and by searching the forums - poor excuses, I feel so ashamed... :(
I want to add links to friends blogs and other sites but I want them to appear as text links on the right side of the blog (the blog menu I suppose?)
I thought I found what I needed, but it didn't work out. I thought enabling the Linkroll widget in the right side was what I needed, but I can't figure out how to edit it now.

Welcome to the forums.
In the settings of the Linkblog widget you see this:

The idea is that you create a new blog that you dedicate to the links
In this bog you create posts and every post only contains a link. When you write your post there is an option called [Type:] in the right top corner of the post screen. Set that to 'link'
In the Linkblog Widget add the number of this special blog and the links will show in your Sidebar.
As an extra: In this new blog go to 'Blog settings -> Features and uncheck 'Include in public blog list'
