[2.4.6] adding img problem

My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

For some reason I am unable to add an image to a post .
I select the img button go through all the hoops where the file is located, alt text, title then when I select OK nothing happens ?

by nothing do you mean that absolutely nothing happens? or does anything at all change? if so, what?
