These hits are made from my IPs. I don't think somebody faked my IP to hit these URLs.
I think that charts.swf does something stupid, some day I'll check its source...

I know that. I had a similar issue that had nothing to do with faking anything. MY hits to my pages were being logged because of a change made by my host. Who said anything about anyone faking anything?
The charts thing used to cause all sorts of errors, but inclusion of charts.txt solved them - the thread you linked to.
Anyway the problem seems to be yours because it isn't duplicated elsewhere. Much like the problem I had with my stats showing my hits. Thus I come back to something at the hosting end.

I hope to find the answers in charts.swf source code.

Gee, it ALWAYS logs my hits--there's a way to stop it?

Regarding charts.swf:
We are using this software: http://www.maani.us/charts. Our version seems to be 1.6 and the newest version seems to be 4.7. ;-) Plus, this software is closed source...
If there is a problem with the existing charts.swf, I'd consider upgrading or switching to another software. I found this: http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/ or http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart-2/, which looks nice and is open source software. :-)

Strangely, starting on July 3, my direct hits massively jumped but my Google Analytics don't show a matching increase of nearly the same size:
Date Refering searches Referers Direct accesses Self referred Special referrers Referer spam Admin Total
Del07/05/09 14 3 948 862 0 0 0 1827
Del07/04/09 71 25 3483 3772 5 0 0 7356
Del07/03/09 111 17 963 1127 0 0 0 2218
Del07/02/09 111 31 342 86 1 0 0 571
Del07/01/09 119 24 209 94 2 0 0 448
Del06/30/09 96 29 428 110 0 0 0 663
Del06/29/09 103 45 291 112 0 0 0 551
Del06/28/09 100 138 232 107 1 0 0 578
Del06/27/09 106 95 264 188 1 0 0 654
You can see the total of 1827 by early Sunday morning today, 7/5, which is not possible in terms of legitimate hits.
In comparison, Google shows 197 visits on Friday, 7/3 and 428 visits on Saturday, 7/4 whereas the b2 stats show 2218 and 7356, respectively!
In general, my b2 stats have always seemed to overstate the real traffic, but this is a new order of magnitude.
Any insight much appreciated!
Best,
Ross

Firstly, Google Analytics logs using JavaScript only (if I remember correctly), so visitors without JavaScript do not get logged. b2evo logs all visits, even those not using or supporting JavaScript.
Secondly, b2evo speaks of hits, not visitors.
For example, if a visitor requests two pages, b2evo records two hits, but Google Analytics registers these two hits as a single visit (since they come from the same IP address). Thus, the number of hits is always bigger than the number of (so-called "unique") visits to your site.

Yeah, and current charts take you to dev's website when you click on them :(

That's because it's the free version.
What version? Wait maybe it doesn't matter. Every now and then my own domain showed up as a referer to me even though I was listed in whatever file we used to have to list ourselves in ... even though it was supposed to know not to log hits from $baseurl. ANYWAY I asked my host once "did you guys do something cuz I got this weird thing happening" and it turns out they did, so they undid it or did something different. Haven't seen that type of problem since. So maybe it is something about your host? Not that I know what it might be - just guessing that it might be.
BTW I have no hits like that logged in any installation I pay attention to.
