My b2evolution Version: 2.x

I have just started using this blogging platform and more importantly, am new to blogging in general. My question is how do I write lines of code in my articles, for example, my blog focuses on xhtml, css, and php. So it would be beneficial to be able to write snippets of code as part of my explanations, how do I do it? Thanks
