My b2evolution Version: 3.3.x

I'm using 3.3.1 for the first time and am trying to wrap my head around how a few of the new widgets work. Specifically, I can't get the Related Simple Post List to work the way I think it should.

It seems like Simple Post List and Related Simple Post List should depend on each other. Say I'm using a skin with two sidebars. In sidebar_a I have a Simple Post List showing some stuff. In sidebar_b I have a Related Simple Post List. When I click on one of the items in sidebar_a, I want the items in sidebar_b to change.

Is this how the related post list is supposed to work?
