install error

My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Hello,

I'm trying to manually install b2evo but I'm getting the same error
over and over, its:-

'Error establishing a database connection!'

host is set to 'localhost'
I've redone the mysql database 3 times to verify the name and pass
and still I get that error.

should I have something differrent from 'localhost' in that box?

please help, its driving me mad and I'm not that up on this stuff.

You could try 127.0.0.1 but, just for giggles, does your password have a "<" or ">" in it? ;)

no its just a word, no <> or punctuation

Then you shouldn't have any problem as long as your database is actually on localhost/127.0.0.1

But I do, no idea why.. its rather annoying :(
