Yes it is possible to remove the blog title, links.

but that would distort the view a little of course, you will need to tweak here and there.. or you can delete the entire header lines from posts.main.php, index.main.php etc..

Thank you for the help! I managed to get the blog working the way I had hoped. I cropped the header image (kubrickheader.jpg), and did other adjustments, and was able to suppress the blog header. In addition, I have the blog enclosed in my site's standard layout. You can see it here:
