My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Hello there, i was wondering if I could get a sanity check from someone else who recently upgraded to 4.0.3 (I was running a 3.x before).

When looking at the Global Stats I can't help notice that these two tabs: Search B-hits, Referered B-hits show every hit as duplicated (although the times differ by a few minutes.) I know I haven't seen that before. Are people coming to my site just weird and clicking things twice or is this some sort of bizarre bug that is registering each hit twice?

Please let me know if you see the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

Your site might just be visited by bots. You may want to wait a little longer for a proper assessment. It's has been about a month that I have been running 4.0.3 and I do not experience the issue you describe.

On the other hand, I did loose the User agents & User sessions tabs

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback.

I get hit by bots very regularly, so that might be the case. But it's just so strange to see every hit duplicated.

/postscript: I just noticed the post asking people to mention their b2e version (4.0.3) and URL... um - regardless of what you might think the name implies it *is* entirely worksafe (except for maybe flamboyant language). www.worldofsuck.net

b2evo's stats are not reliable, do not depend on them.it just gives an idea of what's going on in general, it is not precise. search engine hits are duplicated ever since 2.x days.

Well, by analyzing the blog web server access log(s), I can tell that if b2evo shows duplicate hits, it is because there were duplicate hits by the automated program (or bot ;) visiting the blog site.

As a recent particular experience, b2evo 4.0.3 showed 2 duplicate hits in the admin area and upon verification in the web server access logs, I can see instances of duplicate hits at the same split second:

Another thing: some spammers (or server operators hired by them, I assume) will artificially link from their promoted sites to one or several of your blogs. They will do that sporadically or in a sequence of 2 or more instances -resulting in a similar situation as described by poster. Again they can be uncovered by analyzing the web server access/error logs.

Hence, b2evolution stats adequately reflect what is going on -- seem pretty reliable to me ;)

Cheers!

If it was me I'd kill any bot that was dumb enough to mix extra path with query string ;)

I will not get blood-bot in my hands - here is where he lives: 79.143.182.232

Enjoy your deed!

Heh, I regularly get bot-blood on my hands ... only ban them for a tad though ... unless they're *really* dumb. Ban is incremental in duration ;)

Considering all the hits for that url ( not recursive ones ), suggests you may have a borked link somewhere.

Ohhh, just realised .. that's MY IP !!!!

Just kidding ;)

Well, possible particular example is inadequate but It's an old blog post that started life outside b2evolution (as a Six Apart Yahoo! Blog); I performed a conversion/migration using Daniel's Movable Type Importer.

Possibly output of conversion resulted in a “borked link" and conversion tool needs refinement; but people out there throw a lot of insensible crap -like 1000 compounded direct hits instance coming from different IPs.

Cheers.
