The list of features for the next release includes "improved hit logging" as a feature. Does this refer to this hack:

My B2 site was SUSPENDED by my hosting company I believe because it was using over 50% of the resources on the shared server it was on. I think much of this was the fault of hit logging, and this hack claims to reduce CPU usage by 23% or something, which would help me a lot.

Short answer: No.

I'm not on the dev team and therefore don't speak for them, but so far by looking at the current CVS version the troublesome bit of hit logging is GONE. That's right - it just doesn't do the bad part anymore. The bad part, meaning the part that takes up so much server activity, is pruning old stats every time you get a new hit. In my local copy of what's in CVS I see where $stats_autoprune is only used in function autoPrune(), but that function is not called for anywhere. Seems odd, but that's the way it is - for now. I'm guessing (GUESSING!) the function will be called when the admin chooses to call it instead of automagically every time you get a hit or any other predictable cycle. CVS is subject to change, and I'm no expert, but to get back to your question: no - the next version will not do that hack. It seems like it will go way beyond that hack in terms of not killing your server and providing better stats tracking information.

Not that I know what I'm talking about!!!

Thanks for the research. That's great news.
