C|ever,
I believe the skins issue is a result of this reported bug

personman, yes, that's setup as such.
stk, that solved some of my problems. Any ideas on this issue:

c|ever,
Interesting. Something similar happens on my Phoenix install when I jam in a bunch of extra stuff. It appears to be "resolving what it can" and then shoving that at the browser, but imo ... it should be yielding a 404.
I'll have a play with my old Dawn install later, but fer now ... i'd say this is a extra-path bug, at first glance.

C|ever,
I just checked an old Dawn installation and it appears that the extra path does the same thing there, so it's not Phoenix-specific.
Example:
http://randsco.com/blogD/index.php/2005/11/ -> Pulls up Entries for November 2005
but so does
http://randsco.com/blogD/index.php/2005/11/blah/com/test.php
in fact, i would think that as long as the "http://randsco.com/blogD/index.php/2005/11/ is in there ... it doesn't much matter what comes after ... it's going to resolve what it can (Entries for Nov 2005) and (ignore?) the rest.
Feature or bug? I would think that anything OTHER than http://randsco.com/blogD/index.php/2005/11/ should yield a 404 error, but that's just me. Maybe it's better this way? Dunno.
Does seem to be the behavior though and I've never noticed.
Hope this helps.

stk,
The issue for me is that permalinks aren't working when you use subdomains, so I can't link to individual posts. Sorry if I didn't really illustrate that.
http://tenebre.johnnaked.com/blog.php (I've made the post titles permalinks for now) Try clickin' on one. :(

c|ever,
ah ... now i understand the problem. Don't have a fix, but at least understand.
Are you on a windows server or linux?
Try unchecking the extra-path option in settings ... see if that makes a difference.
Dunno what else to suggest off the top of my head.

oh...
linux server...
(it's like... the sneakiest bump ever.)
You also need to change the access parameters to use an absolute url. Make the change in the blogs tab.
