Common wisdom says to hold off from installing 1.6 because it really is alpha and 1.8 is due sometime in the (near) future. If you do install anyway you will have to redo most (or all) of your hacks, and you will have to install the updated version of kubrick2evo which has been re-done for 1.6.
It may just be more hassle than you need to deal with, especially since so many new changes are still taking place leading up to 1.8 (or whatever number it ends up having).
