Yes, login names are lowercase only.

I haven't registered a new user via the traditional method in a long time, so I have to ask: does the registration page tell people "lower case only"? Does the page after they register tell them caps were converted to lower case (and maybe that they can use caps in their nickname on their profile page)? If not perhaps something in the registration process should either warn or provide feedback to the registerer?
