The categories don't show in b2evolution 1.8.1

I have done the upgrade of b2evolution 0.9.2 to version 1.8.1. Milestone with the template "TicTac" but I have now a problem because the categories section doesn't work. Where is the problem and how can I solve? :'(

Somewere else on the forum I read that when you disable the 'display public bloglist', the categories don't show up..
is that in your case ?
