Unable to update database to utf-8

Upgrading la2yg.net from 5.1.2 to 6.4.3 the DB update to UTF-8 failed.
I usually update by marking the active blog oldblog and upload the new one and run install and move needed information from oldblog.
That has worked nice for years but now the requested update of DB does fail and I am stuck.

My knowledge of database and tables are next to nothing.

@jogeta after checking your attached files, a question comes to mi mind: did you run the upgrade routine (Upgrade from a previous version of b2evolution) before to launch the UTF8 conversion ?

Thanks, yes I did ( several times in different ways) In the end I did copy all editscreen into OpenOffice and made a clean install on my PC. I am going to read the manual (and understand it) before I reinstall on the internet.
