I understand that I can remove individual instances of a widget, but that's sometimes inconvenient.
After I install, position, and configure the widget with the appropriate code, the user says "Maybe I don't like that. What would it look like without that?" And then..."I do like it after all - put it back."
It would be a lot easier if I could just disable the widget instead of removing it and then re-adding and re-configuring it after the user changes her mind.

Okay I guess I mis-understood then. Wanna know what'll be even easier? Tell your users to click it themselves :)
Yeah this would be a good improvement then.
Along the same lines, having "widget schemes" somewhere that you could flip through a few configurations and save a new one so that after tinkering you could easily go back to "the broccoli scheme" for example would do a very similar thing AND let you apply the same layout elsewhere easily.
Widgets are new so maybe it'll take a bit of time to get it friendly in the back office?

Hi,
I've tried to make a little hack. With my hack you're able to show and hide certain widgets. You can read more about it in my blog. :)
It would be nice if someone could test the hack.
Thank you,
Tblue

Widgets work a bit differently than plugins do, meaning you can add or remove a widget from a blog without affecting all other blogs. So that's all you have to do is go to the blog you don't want a widget on, and remove it.
