Oops!
I see; it was probably the failure I posted about before: about not having enough space; then the install option would not get me to where I could update the database version. I suppose I could go back and undo the database hack ???
The only backup of the database is after my hack. Is it ok to use that in the following
You might want to restore your backup into a separate database in order to test this without touching your live site:
> Create a new empty database, either on your server or on you local machine if you have a test environment such as MAMP / WAMP / XAMPP set up.
Restore your latest DB backup into that database. If you don’t have one, make one now from your live site. However, if you’re going to work on your live site, here’s how to make sure you make a very clean restore:
Check that you have a backup of your database.
Remove all existing tables from your database
Check that you have really removed all tables from your database
Restore your DB backup

Yes undo your hack and run install/index.php again.

OK edited version back to 11795
That's odd as I am on the[/install/index.php] yet deleted the folder via ftp ??? and I keep no cache on my browser ?? and turned off etc.

Oh this is some default page not the install page but it is the one I had before when I resorted to hacking the database as although the install folder was present I could/can not get past this page.
I could ftp a new install folder from a new 6.7.7 download or update the whole engine via ftp
OK Successfully ftp'd 6.7.7 over above screw up. :)
Thanks Francois
You should NEVER hack the DB! All you did was hide an error now but it will come back and bite you in the ass, big time!!
In such a situation you should start by running the install script again, without making any change to the DB.
If the install script actually does fail at step 11795, then see this: http://b2evolution.net/man/unexpected-error-during-upgrade
