Merci, Francois.
While at it, maybe you can answer another question.
I my previous skin I had a view count on all my posts. but I can't seem to find that in any of the other skins.
As this is a pretty standard issue in virtually any cms, I was wondering where I can find this setting.
Kind regards,
Gerard

Thanks Francois.
The referenced article explains what it is, but not how to turn it on/off.
Any help on how to turn this back on is appreciated.

No, the reference man page says: "Views counting was removed in b2evolution 5.1+."
This means there is no way to turn it on/off any more. Additional details on the said man page.

@gerardp @amoun you can download this plugin to use the view count feature again: https://github.com/b2evolution/view_count_plugin

Yeah, seeing my view count (3) since April 2016 is a great help...
Never mind that I get over 3.000 unique visitors every month and have articles with over 60K views according to the "old" system.
I'll rely on Google Analytics if it's the same to you.
Apparently, the developers are unaware that view counts are a great tool for content management, and disabled it for God knows what reasons.
They're clearly stuck into their developer cocoon, with no concern whatsoever for practical site management, or even designer concerns, for that matter.
Heck, 6.x is still not even close to mobile, slow as a snail (51/100 according to Google PageSpeed) and nothing works out of the box...
Moreover, where in v.4.x I could inject mobile code in _html_header.inc.php to make my site mobile compatible, even THAT does not work anymore.
Don't try to explain or cockily point me to the F*** useless user manual.
Better take a look at K2, Joomla and Gantry 5, for example.
B2evo: dead man walking.

If you only made the effort to honestly read that man page you would not write half of what you just wrote.
(And the other half would be best served in separate threads, assuming you actually want to get those issues fixed and not just vent some frustration; we'll be glad to help)

Hi gerardp
I have been frustrated with how things don't work for me, when and how I want them but as far as cms goes I've stuck with b2evo as knowing me I'll find problems everywhere, in that things are not what I want - never have been - never will be - and then I'll die.
Meanwhile I try to console myself knowing I didn't have to do all the work to make even a small part of this engine and haven't got the focus to do much - I prefer to grow food and mange my 40 acres of land rather than sit around a computer - so I'm lucky to vent my frustrations on wood for the fire, mostly
Hope you are feeling better but sadly I haven't much use for counting the views of my posts so I've little inclination to help with your with that, still hope you are not too stressed and will keep an eye on how you are doing.
All the best

is a configuration file of PHP, not of b2evolution. It comes with PHP, not with b2evolution.You can ask your web host to change this for you.
