What about all other b2e users?
Am I the only one who cares about the URL settings?
I was testing now nearly all available installation options and I can always reproduce this problem.
As I don't get any feedback - of any b2e forum member as well as from any dev. - I must assume that I am on a block list or this forum is abandoned.
Or b2e may be in general a dead horse - even there is movement on github.
To me, this looks strange.

Hi @northlight
I am following your and all other topics multiple times a day but have limited ability, time and energy to look into, let alone provide the desired assistance. Your expectations of helpful response seem well beyond what is generally available. For example in this topic I can't be bothered to make a clean install and try and replicate your issues I have 40 acres of land to manage, whereupon I grow my food, chop the wood, collect the rain, wash my cloths by hand etc and then have a 400Kb broadband to connect to the web using solar panels in cloudy England.
So whereas I have empathy for your situation I have no energy for sympathy :( I may look deeper if it rains for days and I have nothing more pressing or entertaining. :)
So a question I have is: are you looking for problems? or is this an issue on a live site that is causing you upset?
By the way this site is for peer support I don't think the devs would bother looking, however Francois looks in now and then and may decide that if peer support is not up to it, he may offer his own assistance or if it is a criteria that warrants it pass it on to the devs.

It's unimportant if the system is live or not.
It's related to the app.
The app offers settings that may brake it.
Some URLs may be hard coded and brake the install.
The problem can be tested here: https://demo.b2evolution.net/
I am not asking for support.
I am reporting a problem.
And when you see that it is ignored / or not recognised, then one may stop reporting (because s/he feels it as a waste of time) and simply moves on.
Honestly speaking - I am close to that point.
Because if I get the impression, that problems are not addressed during testing phase, what will be ones the $hit hits the fan with a live system?
Enjoy the weekend and stay healthy.

I have a number of posts that do not get responses as clearly a) other users do not find it entertaining to bother looking into the issue and "In respect for the volunteers giving their time" b) If it was a live site I would have some sympathy, if that makes sense :) Clearly many people use this engine and haven't reported a problem on their live site. Many of the problems an individual finds are not common as most people only use certain aspects of the engine, so most people do not care as a) it is not of interest and b) they have little time or expertise to investigate.
As I said I empathise with your frustration at finding problems, especially when there is not even confirmation. I will look into it later this evening hopefully.
There are things I don't report if they don't seriously affect my site, or I can create a work around as, as you point out, there isn't that level of interest and support.
So yes I do move on from some problems but not b2evo :)
Better stop this area of discussion on this topic as it's a bit off topic. Maybe a whole topic on this issue would help raise more awareness of the issue and what a user can expect in terms of support.

Ok have just tried your routine.
Created a new demo.
Used default
Manually created blog called blog
No problem.
There was a problem on the default set up when I used your link as at that point I had not set up a blog called blog so the url http://demo2.b2evolution.net/stable/index.php/blog/ got a 404
http://demo2.b2evolution.net/stable/index.php/a/ works as that was created by default
I probably didn't do exactly as you did, but it's a start :)

"Someone" was reading this bug report.
Downloaded the latest 7.2 dev version from 18.07.2020.
From this version my described problem is solved.
Thank you.
This thread is resolved.
this problem does also appear with a clean install and all available demo content.
Is anyone willing to confirm that s/he can reproduce it?
If so, then it is a bug.
