b2evolution doesn't allow mass-editing of comments or IP banning, so you're forced delete each comment individually.
The blacklist tool is limited to 5 character so lots of short common spam words can't be used to block comments.
The only CAPTCHA plug in doesn't seem to work, despite trying to install it twice.
Are there any options for someone with thousands of relatively unique spam messages to get a handle on the situation, short of looking to switch to a different program?

Regarding this post: http://forums.b2evolution.net/topic-22963, you gave us this comment:
Please consider that the main action to ensure your site is as safe as possible, is keeping it updated. Also, consider that the update process in b2evolution is extremely simple. Finally, please also, before to move to any other software, consider that with most recent stable version of b2evo (5.0.6) you will be able to do all that you mentioned in the post, summarizing:
Regarding the reCaptcha plugin that you commented before, that is a third-party plugin, and b2evolution team is not able to offer third-party support (yes, is sad :( ), but as you see, you do have plenty of other options to fight against spam.
Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Regards!
