@thatgrrl the plugin you're talking about is this one: http://plugins.b2evolution.net/watermark-plugin. It adds watermarks to uploaded files at the moment their thumbnails are created, so, when you attach a file to a post, the thumbnails will get the watermark, however, the original files wont.
Also, as you said, currently it's not possible to define rules to tell the plugin what images to process and what images to ignore. It would be relatively not too difficult to add this feature, but as said before, the watermark will be applied to the thumbnails only, so the original image remains untouched.
Regards!
Thank you for the reply. I've found Cubecart which will work for selling images as downloads online. So I'm going to find something to watermark all the images I show on my site. Maybe the watermark plugin will get some features in another update of b2.
@thatgrrl be aware that b2evolution creates thumbnails on-the-fly, in order to be displayed all across your front-office. So if you add watermarks to the original images, the automatic resizing may make smaller images do not look as you want. I'm not saying you can't do it at all, just recommending to test with a few images and see how b2evolution displays them, so you can make adjustments accordingly.
Regards!
Is there a way to avoid having all the thumbnails made? Looking for a way to do so is on my list of things to do.
@thatgrrl there is no way to avoid thumbnails creation neither from backend, nor using configuration parameters. That's how b2evolution warranties that your images will adjust well.
Watermarks would be a problem on small images, but I have seen that you use large thumbnails, so the watermark would work. As said before, you should test with a few images and see how it goes.
Thank you. Will see how it goes.
I did find the plugin and documentation. The first place I tried to read about it was a 404 link.
Anyway, looks like it won't let me choose a specific folder only so the watermark plugin won't work for me.
