First off, i havent been actively using 5.x, i'm still on a 4.x install, but is there an option to "delete comments containing string" ? Or is it in the plans ? Because i just logged in my admin and saw 60 of "xyzjackets.bla bla" spam comments, it was a drag to delete them all one by one.

Secondly i realized that all this time, i was sending comments to "recycle bin" and not actually erase them from DB. I found out i had about a thousand deleted comments in recycle bin. I know "recycle bin" or "trash" might come handy given the human idiocy, but this is one of the things i hate about deleting things, it goes sth like this:

Me: I want to delete this.
Software: Are you sure ?
Me: Well yeah, i wouldnt click delete if i wasnt now, would i ?
Soft: Really ?
Me: Yeah goddam it.
Soft: Ah ok, so you have an intention of deleting it, let me move it to trash / recycle bin, give you some time to sleep on it, despite the fact that you already requested to delete it, and confirmed you were sure, i am gonna move it there just in case.
Me: -_-

Even on windows I constantly use Shift+Del to avoid it. Recycle bins & trashes are really annoying. Cant we just put an X to actually delete it in 1 step, 1 click for those of us who are not complete idiots, or like to think they are not.

Hi @tilqicom,

Right now I can't test this on 4.x, but in 5.0.6 a "Mass delete" feature is available. Please see screenshot:

1 Filter the search to specific words / phrases
2 Click on "Mass delete" will delete all the comments found according with the search criteria
3 You could decide to move them to the "Recycle bin" or delete them permanently.

It would be interesting to have those two options as a general setting for the comment deletion and not only as specific cases of mass deletion. Maybe "move to recycle bin" should be selected by default, but admins could be able to define their desired behavior.

Regards !

Cool that looks exactly what i asked for. Plus it'd be great if we could disable the recycle bin and delete comments right away.

Hi @tilqicom,

There is in the next major release (5.1) an scheduled job to "Prune recycled comments", then technically we don't need to implement a one step direct deletion because you only need to set this job and wait for the recycled comments to be automatically pruned.
